Telford Raiders Rugby League Club have been awarded Clubmark Gold accreditation. The accreditation is sign of a quality Club, committed to providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment. Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against. In addition to the minimum operating standards of Clubmark, the RFL have a higher level of accreditation; "Clubmark Gold", which we have achieved.

Rugby League clubs that gain accreditation will receive recognition and promotion by Sport England, The RFL, County Sports Partnerships and Local Authorities. Clubmark will bring benefits such as promoting clubs within their communities, increased participation levels, developing coaches and volunteers at clubs, raising standards thus creating a quality environment for all involved, and increased opportunity in terms of accessing resources.
The club has held Clubmark for 4 years but decided that it should try and achieve the enhanced award and have been successful in doing so. Midlands Regional Development Officer Tom Tsang commented, ?Telford Raiders have again shown they are a groundbreaking club by gaining the Clubmark Gold accreditation. They have clearly been hard at work ensuring the club is a welcoming and child friendly place to be and all the volunteers at the club contribute to this. This is a great standard to reach and I am sure it wont be long before other clubs in the region follow suit.?

The club would would like to thank Fred Baker for his hard work over a number of months in putting together the documentation and evidence to ensure that we reached the required standards. We would also like to thank everyone who has attended various courses and supported the aims of the club. The club would also like to thank Tom Tsang for his assistance in the award. A presentation ceremony will be held in 2010 at a professional Rugby League match to recognise the award.
